TOPIC: PREVIEW OF THE 2009 ORANGE COUNTY INFRASTRUCTURE REPORT CARD UPDATE

SPEAKER: BLAKE ANDERSON, ANDERSON CONSULTING AND FORMER GENERAL MANAGER OF THE OC SANITATION DISTRICT

The Orange County Branch, in cooperation with the University of California Civil and Environmental Engineering Affiliates (UCICEEA), is preparing an update to the Orange County Infrastructure Report Card. Blake Anderson, P.E., is a co-chair of the 2009 Report CardUpdate. The OC Report Card evaluates the condition of our infrastructure and was first issued in 2002 and updated and re-released in 2005. The latest update, actually a new look at our infrastructure condition, is in process and planned for release late this year. The roll-out of these past report cards have been very important in raising the public’s awareness about the importance of the maintenance of existing infrastructure and for the development of new infrastructure. The 2005 report card likely played a positive role in the public’s support for the approval of the Renewed Measure M, the one-half cent sales tax used for transportation improvements in our County. The issuance of the 2009 report card during these difficult economic times will keep this very important issue in the minds of the public and voters.

Mr. Anderson operates Blake Anderson Consulting for management and is the former General Manager of the Orange County Sanitation District. He served as Manager for five years and was with the agency for 25 years in number of leadership capacities. Mr. Anderson received a BS in civil engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and is a registered civil engineer. He and wife reside in Santa Ana, California. He is an avid long-distance motorcyclist, traveling 20,000 miles a year in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
